Canadian Defense Staff in Washington receive Briefing from LACUNA

Washington, D.C. – Today, Dr. James C. Wallace of LACUNA Group International spoke to the Canadian Defense Liaison Staff at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.  Rear Admiral Truelove, the Canadian Defense Attaché for the US, invited Wallace to make a presentation titled, “Religion in Conflict Zones: The challenge for 21st century warfare.”

Around the world, the conflict zones involve religious communities, religious ideologies, and religious players.  Wallace’s presentation dealt with general issues and principles of “religion in the battlespace” and focused on the specific issues and challenges facing the Canadian military as it transitions its military profile in Iraq and Syria.

Canada’s military is also preparing for a renewed engagement in African countries for peace-keeping and anti-terrorism missions which also require intelligence and preparation for dealing with the religious elements of those conflicts.
